our honest take
For two people who simply want 'did you land?' and 'on my way' without texting: built-ins win outright - Find My for iPhone pairs, Google Maps sharing across any mix of phones. Life360 earns its install when you want a family circle with arrival alerts and driving safety features, at the cost of more notifications and a more monitored feel.
The healthy-use test we'd actually apply: both partners share by choice, either can pause without drama, and neither checks it more than they check the weather. If location data is being used to interrogate, no app choice fixes that - that's a trust conversation, possibly with a counselor.
