🍳 seven formats

1. 1. The mystery basket: pick three ingredients together (one protein, one vegetable, one wildcard) - both must star in a dish, 30 minutes.
2. 2. The budget battle: ten dollars each at the store, separate carts, best complete dish wins.
3. 3. The one-pan showdown: whole dish in a single pan each. Lowest cleanup date in the genre.
4. 4. The childhood remake: each recreates a dish from the other's childhood, from memory and their family's hints. High emotional stakes.
5. 5. The blind taste-off: one cooks two versions of one dish with a single variable changed; the other tastes blind and ranks. Swap next round.
6. 6. The leftover lockdown: fridge leftovers only, nothing new. The most economically responsible battle format.
7. 7. The dessert duel: 20 minutes, dessert only, pantry ingredients. Ends sweetest, obviously.

⚖️ judging criteria (out of 10 each)

1. 1. Taste - does it actually slap? The only category that survives disputes.
2. 2. Creativity - did the wildcard ingredient get respected or hidden?
3. 3. Presentation - restaurant plating with living-room resources.
4. 4. The intangible bonus point - awarded for best commentary, best recovery from disaster, or most suspicious confidence.
