the improv format: one detective, five suspects, one partner
step 1
Build the case in 10 minutes
Together, invent: a victim (fictional - Lord Fluffington of the Penthouse), a setting (the annual cheese gala), and five suspect archetypes (the rival, the heir, the ex, the butler, the influencer). Write each suspect's secret on a slip; the 'witness' player secretly draws which one is guilty.
step 2
Interrogate in character
The detective interviews each suspect one by one - and the witness partner PLAYS all five, switching voices/props per suspect. Each suspect tells the truth except the guilty one, who must tell exactly one lie.
step 3
Accuse over dessert
After two interrogation rounds, the detective names the culprit and the lie. Correct: justice and bragging rights. Wrong: the guilty suspect gloats dramatically and picks the next movie.
step 4
Swap and escalate
Next round, swap roles and raise the absurdity. Recurring suspects across game nights become beloved household characters - this is a feature and a warning.
